Winter on Fosen

Fosen's unique location makes it an eldorado for various activities all year round, and winter in Fosen is no exception. Those who want to experience proximity to nature, a diverse wildlife and perhaps also combine this with various activities should really familiarize themselves with the opportunities available in winter in Fosen.

Fosen is a peninsula bathed in sunlight on the north side of the Trondheimsfjord. The mountains that plunge steeply into the fjord are often referred to as the Fosen Alps. Here, it's a short distance from the fjord to the peaks and mountain ranges, and the mountain peaks are all in a row. The unique thing about these mountains is that you have a view of the fjord even though you are high up in the mountains. Especially in winter on Fosen, this offers fantastic nature experiences for those who venture out into the terrain.

There are many hiking opportunities, and winter in Fosen offers plenty of options for those who enjoy skiing. There are miles of prepared trails where you can enjoy the peace and quiet without having to wait in line. Along the trails, you'll find shelters that are available for public use and often have a campfire site with firewood in stock. The only thing you need to provide yourself is kindling and something to grill. Enjoying nature in this way with family or friends provides great experiences that are stored in the memory bank for the future. Of course, you can also go off the beaten track and experience skiing in untouched nature. There are plenty of opportunities to see traces of animals such as hares, foxes, deer, elk, otters, beavers and some of the varied birdlife, and if you're really lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of some of the wildlife on Fosen. If you prefer snowshoeing, this is of course also an option. In that case, we recommend using some of the route suggestions found, for example, on ut.no
