Spring on Fosen

Spring in Fosen offers many opportunities for those who like to get out and enjoy nature. Here you'll find great variety and everything from snow-covered mountain ranges in the heights to flowering woodland, a bustling birdlife and waves crashing on the shore. Spring in Fosen is definitely worth experiencing!

If you haven't experienced spring in Fosen, we highly recommend taking a trip here at this time of year. The unique, south-facing location down by the Trondheimsfjord means that spring arrives relatively early. As early as the latter half of February, you may find horse's hooves down by the fjord, and in mid-March the blue wagtail wakes up from its hibernation as a welcome guest, delighting us all with its blue gaze. The birds chirp and sing their happy trills as they praise spring in Fosen and its early arrival down in the shoreline.

Further up in the mountains, spring in Fosen has a somewhat different feel. Here, the snow can remain for a long time, providing opportunities for skiing well into April, and even May in some years. For those who like to get on their skis, there are plenty of opportunities, both on groomed trails and off-piste. Skiing across the plains in glorious sunshine, settling down and enjoying the peace and quiet and nature alone or with family and friends is a fantastic experience in itself. But if this can be combined with fantastic views of the fjord and the dawning spring on the shore, then the experience is complete.

As you know, Easter coincides with spring, and an Easter vacation in Fosen gives you the opportunity to experience the best of what this holiday has to offer. Here you don't have to choose between Easter by the sea or Easter in the mountains. You can have it all at once, or "yes, please, both", as Winnie the Pooh would say. Could it get any better?

Feel free to visit Hjellup Fjordbo to enjoy spring in Fosen. Here you can, for example, rent a room in one of our comfortable houses at Drivhussletta or the cabin at Grindaplassen as a starting point for many nice walks along the sea or in the Fosen Alps. Then you'll be right in the middle of the spring adventure down in the mountains. It's certainly possible to take a dip in the fjord while you're here, and perhaps you'd like to warm up with a bath in our jacuzzi or sauna down on the shore? Either way, there are plenty of great things to experience in spring in Fosen.
