Race and a lot of media attention

Those who have been following the media have probably heard the news about the landslide that occurred here in Hjellup on Wednesday 20 June. A bit of a shock for us, and now in retrospect there are many thoughts in our heads. First and foremost, we are so glad that no lives were lost. The outcome could have been so much worse. Then we think about what could have happened if the landslide had spread to our village. Of course, we also think about the future and the operations here at Hjellup Fjordbo. Right now, our holiday homes by the sea are closed for rent, and we do not know how long it will take before we are allowed to open again. We have contacted the guests who have booked and explained the situation to them, and fortunately everyone has been very understanding.

The pictures below show the ridge on Østersand, where we have lost a few acres of land + a boathouse with several boats and other equipment. The last photo shows what remains of the breakwaters after the landslide.
