New Year, New possibilities

New Year, New possibilities

We have entered a new year, and we hope and believe in a good year for both Hjellup Fjordbo and our customers and followers. 2018 was a challenging year here at Hjellup Fjordbo, and a little different than we had imagined. We spent the first half of the year finalizing and preparing the new holiday homes on Drivhussletta for the summer season. With the opening on June 10th, it looked like the goal was reached and guest bookings were pouring in. When the landslide came on June 20, the newly opened houses were closed for rent, and the last half of the year consisted of much uncertainty and waiting for results and answers from both ground surveys and insurance companies. When will we know more, but much is still uncertain. After the results of the ground surveys, spunting is required below the holiday homes for us to be able to open again. We are aiming to get this done in the spring of 2019, and in that case we will be ready to reopen around June 1 this year. So we haven't completely lost faith yet. The houses are nice and the location is fantastic in all seasons, so it would be a shame if we couldn't use the place again.

Otherwise, the cabin at Grindaplassen has been frequently used over the past year. At the end of the year, we summed up, and found that it had been rented out about 30% of the days in 2018. Most of the guests come from countries other than Norway, mostly from Europe, and the feedback we have received from guests is exclusively positive and sometimes overwhelming. We really appreciate that.

We are hoping that 2019 will be a prosperous and good year, and that we here at Hjellup Fjordbo can put the bad events of 2018 behind us and make a new and better start. Here are some pictures from the facility at Drivhussletta, taken in the fall of 2018.
